There is nothing more cozy that a cute cabin, hot tub, hunky guy and some beautiful scenery - am I right? We recently spent the weekend away in Fayetteville, West Virginia and I am so excited to share our trip with you!
For starters, Fayetteville is located about an hour south of Charleston, West Virginia. It is a very easy drive, however, we did have to take the toll road (but thank heavens for that EZ Pass!). A weekend away was just what we needed so after work on Friday, we hopped in the car and headed south!
We rented a one bedroom outback cabin at Adventures on the Gorge. Highly recommend. The cabin features a kitchen, bar and living room area as well as a master bedroom (with a king bed), full bathroom and a loft area with two twin beds. If you rent this cabin, I would recommend calling AOTG and asking for the cabin named "Glade Creek". This is the cabin that we had and I thought it offered a little more privacy than the others. And by privacy I mean, the hot tub was on the back side of the cabin instead of the front.
Check in was at 4pm and we didn't get there until almost 6pm so after we checked in, we went into town and ordered take-out (thanks COVID) from Southside Junction Tap House. I ordered Mozzarella Bites (shocker!) and the chicken strip basket. JW ordered the deep fried pickle chips and Asian fish tacos. It was DELICIOUS and completely hit the spot.
We spent some time in the hot tub drinking champs and realized it does not get any better than THIS. We were living, I'll tell ya that! We also made a fire and cooked up some smore's. I wish I had a good camera - or a telescope - because the amount of stars my bare eyes saw that night was incredible. I don't know if I had ever seen a clearer night.
Saturday morning we woke up and headed to Long Point Trail. We could not have asked for better weather. The trail was a bit muddy and some spots had ice but it wasn't too bad! We made it out to Long Point and we had the entire spot to ourselves. Wow. Breathtaking. After snacking on some Dots Pretzels, we headed back to the trail and back to the cabin.
In the afternoon, we went into Fayetteville to do some shopping, eating and drinking! We stopped at our fave store in F'ville, WaterStone. A couple of my friends also recommended stopping into this cute boutique Out of the Ashes. What an adorable spot! After browsing downtown, we headed to Freefolk Brewery. Another cute, locally owned spot. A very welcoming environment and knowledgeable staff. JW and I both had some of their locally brewed beer and an order of pepperoni rolls.
And is a weekend in Fayetteville complete without a stop at Pies & Pints? I think not. We order some pies to go - I got the Grape & Gorgonzola and JW got the Cuban Pork. The perfect ending to our weekend away.
We found ourselves in the hot tub sipping on champs. Again. I cannot recommend Adventures on the Gorge enough. We had so much fun and will certainly be back.
When we woke up on Sunday morning, we were greeted by some beautiful snow. Let these photos be a moment of zen for you and book your trip to Fayetteville today.
